| dc.description.abstract | Rafael Rangel, el más grande de los científicos venezolanos en la primera mitad del siglo XX, nació en Betijoque, un pequeño poblado del estado Trujillo.
Al poco tiempo de haber ingresado como estudiante de medicina en la Universidad Central de Venezuela inició su labor como investigador, a la cual dedicó con gran intensidad el resto de los días de su corta vida. Fue el director fundador del Laboratorio del Hospital José María Vargas, obteniendo frutos importantes al investigar algunas enfermedades infecciosas que afectaban a buena parte de la población venezolana, así como algunas otras asociadas
a algunos animales y plantas afectando las actividades agropecuarias. Su brillante carrera se desarrolló en un ambiente que muchas veces fue hostil y sufrió el ataque de personas ambiciosas, envidiosas y sedientas de poder que le condujeron a la tragedia. | es_VE |

| dc.description.abstract1 | Rafael Rangel, the greatest Venezuelan scientist of the fi rst half of the twentieth century, was born in Betijoque, a small town of the state of Trujillo. He was a student at the School of Medicine, Central University of Venezuela, he started working a scientist and dedicated to this activity the remainder days of his short life. He was the fi rst director of the Laboratory of Hospital José María Vargas, and there he got several important results in his research about some infectious diseases that affected some people as well as other that attacked animals and plants related to agricultural activities. His brilliant career as a scientist developed in an environment which was, sometimes, hostile, so he was the target of some selfish persons who were seeking for political power and finally drove him to tragedy. | es_VE |
