dc.description.abstractLa Península de Paraguaná, en el extremo noroccidental de Venezuela, es una de las subregiones de mayor interés para los investigadores de distintas áreas en el país. En este artículo se aborda el estudio de la entidad a partir de la imagen creada sobre ella por las transnacionales del petróleo a partir de la década de los años cincuenta del siglo veinte, especialmente a través de la revista El Farol. Recurriendo a las formulaciones de destacados estudiosos del tema petrolero, a la revisión de la colección de la revista, a trabajos de historia regional y a la memoria de los pobladores, se intenta una aproximación a la creación del imaginario de progreso en esta porción de Venezuela.es_VE

dc.description.abstract1The Paraguaná Peninsula, located in northwestern of Venezuela, is one of the most interesting sub regions for the researchers of different areas in the country. In this article we raise the study of entity from the image about it created by transnational oil companies at the beginning of the 50`s decade in the XX century, specially published by the magazine El Farol. We try to approximate to the creation of the idea of progress in this part of Venezuela, by resorting to the distinguished oil scholars’ approaches, the checking of the collection of El Farol, works about regional history and the population.es_VE
