Aquí presentamos una reseña de los actos recordatorios de tan magno acontecimiento que instrumento a los sirvió de propagandístico organizadores: gobierno e iglesia.es_VE

dc.description.abstract1On the first of August of 1898, the city of Mérida, capital of the Andes State, celebrated the fourth centennial of Colombus’s arrival at the coast of Venezuela. It was, as the so—called centennial of the discovery of America had been, a sober commemoration because of the state of beligerance‘ that existed in Venezuela during the last decade of the nineteenth century. In this paper, we present a summary of the commemorative acts of this great event which served as a propagandistic instrument for the organizers: the Government and the Catholic Church.es_VE
