| dc.description.abstract | La producción ganadera es una actividad que fue introducida
por los conquistadores Españoles como una práctica de la vida cotidiana
de los pueblos que se fundaron en Venezuela. En Trujillo, los primeros
escritos de la ciudad, hablan del rebaño que trajo Diego García
de Paredes, desde El Tocuyo, a estas tierras. Aunque no es sino hasta
fi nales del siglo XX cuando la ganadería tuvo algún auge en el estado e
hizo sus aportes a la economía, como actividad secundaria en las fi ncas
agrícolas. En este escrito se presenta una reseña de los hitos importantes
del desarrollo de la ganaderia en el Estado.

Spanish conquerors as a practice of daily life of the peoples that were
founded in Venezuela. In Trujillo, the documents that refer to the founding
of the city speak of the initial herds brought by Diego García de
Paredes from El Tocuyo to these lands. Although, it is not until the
end of the 20th century, when livestock farming truly contributes to the
economy of the state as a secondary activity on farms. In this paper we
