Resumen en otro Idioma | The present work aims to showcase the poetic trajectory of João da Cruz e Sousa (1861-1898), one of the most outstanding poets of Brazilian Symbolism. To achieve this, in addition to examining his place within the canon and his establishment as an authorial figure, stylistic and thematic recurrences, we delve directly into one of his key texts: "Emparedado," published in the posthumous volume "Evocações" (1898). We propose a translation of this extensive prose poem into Spanish. In this regard, we have divided the work into three parts: the first is titled "Cruz e Sousa: un 'Dante Negro’ in 19th-century Brazil," where we attempt to unveil aspects of his poetics from his early books, providing a specific context to the formation of his aesthetic. On the other hand, the second part, "Al otro lado de la muralla," contains a brief reflection on the translation of the poem "Emparedado," which we present in the third part alongside its Spanish version. Through this hybrid endeavor, we aim to bring the Brazilian author's work closer to the Spanish speaking audience. |
